The Boat Yard
A still life project inspired by walks around a boat yard in Wareham over the course of 9 months.
Throughout that period no time was the same, with fresh paint fading, boats coming and going, to the weather and light inspiring different interpretations.
The project inspired me to look beneath the waterline, predominantly focusing on the hulls of the boats. Each one unique in its shape, colour and changing texture depending on the length of time it has been out the water and how much it had been looked after by its owner. What I found interesting is that many of the boats are left to rot, with no real way to recycle or reuse abandoned or unserviceable boats without great costs.
